In 1961 a group of friends gathered to form a service club promoting education of Malibu children. Three of the early members are still active in Malibu Woman’s Club. As volunteers, we celebrate the scholarship and contributions of our outstanding fifth graders and high school seniors. All proceeds from our annual fundraiser, after event costs, go to award the achievements of our deserving young people. We appreciate community donations and participation.

Cheers and ovations for the cellist Stephen Erdody and pianist Antoinette Perry for their evocative performances at the MWC 2010 Fundraiser Soiree. They played Schumann and Chopin selections to celebrate the 200-year aniversaries of both composers.
Susanne Steiner, introduced to MWC by Scholarship Chair Patti Eisenberg (left) and Inducted by Membership Chair Bobbi Hurst (right), has lived in Malibu for over 10 years. As the “Busy Bee” of Busy Bee Esthetics, she performs skin care services in the Malibu Gym. She and her husband, Dr. Randall Steiner, who works at Amgen, Inc., have two sons, third and fifth graders at Our Lady of Malibu School. Susanne says, “I am pleased to join the Malibu Women’s Club and hope to make a difference in achieving the group’s goal of raising scholarship funds for local students.”

On May 20 David Resnick, President of Malibu Bay Company and a great friend of Malibu Woman’s Club, presented his $1000 special annual award to Jacob Vandor, Malibu High School Senior. Jacob will attend the University of Hawaii to continue his education in marine archeology. Resnick urged Vandor to remember Malibu and to return home after college to help with local water challenges.

Our field trip to Ojai began with a delicious lunch on the veranda of the Ojai Country Club and Spa. Afterward we drove north to look out over the groves and mountains surrounding Meditation Mount.
Merrie night indeed. Malibu knights and ladies gathered at the Castle Kashan in September 2007. Chris and Don Briscoe and Ron and Sally Zamarin raise a glass with Richard Chesterfield, the chef of the realm.

Looking like a night in the Caribbean, the venue is pure Malibu, a lovely home in the Colony. Members and guests sport all sorts of island attire to sing and dance the night away. Our fundraisers accomplish two goals: we have great fun and we raise money for Malibu kids.
